About CWA
Our purpose is to encourage a sense of community as Canadian citizens in Jakarta, to offer social activities for the Canadian community, to provide support for newcomers and to contribute to social development needs in Indonesia. It is intended that the Web site provides quick access to information which may be of interest to our membership. We also wanted to provide a link through which members (including those who do not generally have the opportunity to attend our monthly coffee mornings) would feel more connected to the Canadian Women's Association and to a greater part of the Canadian community in Indonesia.
Membership
Membership is open to all nationalities. At present, we have approximately 60 members who are mainly Canadian women, although everyone - male or female - who has an interest in Canada and/or Canadian affairs is welcome to join. Membership entitles a person to receive a monthly newsletter, the membership directory and discounts at coffee mornings. Most activities are conducted in English.
Meetings
Coffee morning meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month. Both members and non-members are welcome. A small fee is charged. Generally, used books, Canadiana items and vendors' goods are available plus guest speakers and raffle prizes are arranged. Check out the Activity section for more information.
We are still working on adding information and pictures to the Web site. If you have any suggestions or information of interest to our membership that you would like to share, we would appreciate your input. With the variety of your shared opinions and ideas, we can really develop this Web site into a fantastic resource!
